Academic Exchange

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, the Conducting Division of CUHK-Shenzhen will host the Women in Music Symposium and "Meet the Maestro" Masterclass at Auditorium 364 on April 13. We are honored to have Professor Ni FAN from the China Conservatory of Music as the keynote speaker. This event aims to explore and celebrate the significant contributions of women in the field of music.
The event will consist of three parts: lectures, specialized workshops, and a masterclass, providing a unique platform for extensive exchange and inspiration among music enthusiasts, scholars, and professionals. We will focus on female conductors, musicians, scholars, and industry practitioners, collectively exploring their breakthroughs and influences in creativity, artistic expression, and the music industry. Additionally, we will address the challenges, obstacles, and growth in the career development of female musicians, while striving to create a more equitable and inclusive environment.
The masterclass in this event is already the seventh edition of the series activity "Meet the Maestro" launched by the Conducting Division of MUS of CUHK-Shenzhen. As most of the concert audience, we are hardly able to observe the conductors from their front. Even for the musicians on stage, the off-podium life of the conductors is often veiled under obscurity. Therefore, the meeting with conductors offers us an opportunity to unfold the conductor's real mind, decision, and philosophy from multiple perspectives.
We eagerly anticipate sharing experiences and exchanging insights with music enthusiasts, scholars, and practitioners from all walks of life, thereby creating a broader platform for the advancement of women in the music industry.
